South Jersey Driver Had Headlights Off In Crash Injuring 3: Police

Three people were hurt in a crash involving a vehicle with its headlights off, authorities said.

At about 6:45 p.m. on Friday, March 11, Galloway police said that a  2015 Kia Optima, operated by Christina Porter, 32, of Galloway was traveling northbound on South Pitney Road near Highland Avenue, police said.

The car collided with a 2017 Dodge Ram 2500 pickup driven by Robert Bardenhagen, 58, of Galloway, police said. Bardenhagen had just entered the intersection to make a left turn from Highland Avenue onto South Pitney Road. 

As Bardenhagen entered the intersection, the front of his vehicle collided with the front of Porter’s vehicle. 

Bardenhagen was transported to Mainland with minor injuries, police said.

One young girl was airlifted to Cooper Hospital with serious injuries. A second young girl was transported to Mainland for her injuries. 

A section of the roadway within the collision scene was closed for approximately two hours while the scene was investigated and the vehicles /debris were removed. 

The accident is being investigated by Officer Cody Trout #117 of the Galloway Township Traffic Safety Unit. Anyone with information regarding this accident is encouraged to contact Officer Trout at (609)652-3705 Ext. 5117.
